ABOUT

A personal, steady way of working

I’m Paul, based in Totnes, and I run South Devon Web Design.

I work with small businesses, sole traders, and community organisations who want their website to be looked after properly — not just built and forgotten.

I don’t run an agency, and I don’t outsource the work. When you get in touch, you’re dealing with the same person who designs your website, maintains it, and helps keep it running smoothly over time.

How I approach web work

I’ve been working with websites for a long time, in different contexts — from large organisations to small, local businesses. What I’ve learned is that most people don’t want complexity or constant change. They want something dependable.

That’s shaped how I work now.

I focus on:

  • clear structure

  • calm decision-making

  • building things to last

  • and taking responsibility for ongoing care

Rather than chasing trends or quick wins, I aim to make things that still make sense a few years down the line.

Why that matters

A website isn’t finished the day it goes live.

It needs:

  • updates

  • attention

  • occasional changes

  • someone keeping an eye on it

That’s why a lot of my work centres around ongoing care and support. Most of my clients stay with me for years, not months — because continuity matters.

Outside of work

When I’m not working on websites, I spend a lot of time outdoors around Devon — walking, photographing, and paying attention to place and pace. That slower way of looking at things feeds back into how I work: fewer assumptions, more care, less noise.

It’s not about doing less — it’s about doing things properly.

If you’d like to talk

If you’re looking for a steady, hands-on approach — and someone you can come back to when things need changing — feel free to get in touch.

I’m always happy to talk things through and let you know honestly whether I can help.
